SnapBraggin: Answers
Questions Prev NextHow do I create and run a simple Tournament for Qualified Entries?
This answer is for use by Gallery Hosts who are interested in holding Contests.
What are Qualified Entries?
- Qualified Entries are those entries which have earned certain, host-specified, award placements in your Standard Contest.
- An entry might become qualified if it earns a First place or a Second place or a Third place award in your Contest, as an example.
Why get Qualified?
- If you hold the same Standard Contest several times a year, with many of the same entries competing over and over, preferably with a different judge each time, the entries in your Contest will have several chances to become qualified.
- Getting qualified will give those entries, that achieve becoming qualified, a perk (one might call it a ticket) to be able to compete in a special, "championship" or "End of the Year" version of your contest in which only the "qualified" entries will compete.
- In this way, only "qualified" entries will move forward to the end of the Tournament.
What kinds of tournaments can I run with qualified entries?
- You can be creative!
- There are many possible combinations of ways that you could hold tournaments that involve SnapBraggin Contest Albums and qualified entries.
How the Simple Tournament for qualified entries works:
- In this type of tournament, you will hold one Standard contest multiple times during the year (in REGULAR CONTEST MODE), and Record the results each time.
- Then you will run the Contest a final time in QUALIFIED CONTEST MODE.
- In Qualified Contest Mode, only those entries that became "qualified" in the earlier versions of the contest will be judged or rated this time.
- The tournament will culminate with the ultimate winners from among the qualified entries.
To create a simple Tournament for Qualified entries you will need:
- A SnapBraggin Gallery
- Only ONE Standard Contest Album.
- A Gallery membership of enough Members (and yourself) so that the tournament will have a variety of entries.
- Some Members (or yourself) who would like to judge the Contest (or the Contest can be rated.)
How to create and run your Simple Tournament for qualified entries:
-
Create one Standard Contest Album.
- Run your Standard Contest (in REGULAR CONTEST MODE) several times during the year.
-
Set the Contest Mode in Album Management - Album Contest Settings.
- The option is: Run in Qualified Contest Mode? YES or NO
- Select NO to run the Contest in Regular Contest Mode.
- Encourage your Gallery's Members to submit entries into the Contest, judge or rate the entries to determine the winners each time, and Record the Contest's results each time.
- Allow the entries to remain in the Contest to compete again.
- Allow additional entries to be added each time, if desired.
- At the end of the year (after you have run and RECORDED the Contest in Regular Contest Mode four times, for example) prepare the Contest to be run, one last time, in Qualified Contest Mode.
-
RESET your Standard Contest in the Contest Management list.
- Reset will transition your Contest Album to the Closed state.
- NOTE: Always RECORD before RESET to preserve results.
-
Switch your Contest Album to QUALIFIED CONTEST MODE:
- Set the Contest Mode in Album Management - Album Contest Settings.
- The option is: Run in Qualified Contest Mode? YES or NO
- Select YES to run the Contest in Qualified Contest Mode.
- NOTE: The Contest must be in Closed or Open state to make this change.
-
Indicate the Qualified Placement Level.
- Enter a number into the box.
- The number will indicate the level of placement that an entry must have achieved in order to be considered qualified.
- For example, let's say that an entry needs to have earned a First place, a Second place, or a Third place award to be considered qualified.
- In our example, you would enter 3 into the box.
-
Indicate the Start of Qualified Timeframe.
- Select a start Date.
- This is how far back in time SnapBraggin should go when gathering information about which entries have become qualified.
- Use the indicators to set the year, month, and day.
-
Then click Save.
- NOTE: In QUALIFIED CONTEST MODE, only the “qualified” entries will be displayed in the Contest Album.
-
THEN JUDGE OR RATE THE CONTEST ONE LAST TIME:
- When you are ready for the Contest to be judged or rated, change the Contest to the Judging state in the Contest Management List.
- Only the "qualified" entries will be judged or rated.
- The non-qualified entries will be temporarily hidden.
- The tournament will culminate with the ultimate winners from among the qualified entries.
