How do I empty a judged or rated Contest after I Reset it?

This answer applies only to Contest Albums.

Are you asking about CHAMPION OR GRAND CHAMPION CONTEST ALBUMS?

  • The photos in Champion and Grand Champion Contest Albums are merely temporary duplicates of winners from feeder contests.
  • The temporary duplicate photos are only present in the Albums while the Champion or Grand Champion Contests are being judged or rated.
  • When you RESET your Champion and Grand Champion Contest Albums, the temporary duplicate photos will cease to exist.
  • As a result, there is no need to empty Champion or Grand Champion Contests.
  • These types of Contest Albums become empty automatically when they are Reset!

Are you asking about STANDARD CONTEST ALBUMS?

  • When Standard Contest Albums are Reset, the photos stay in the Albums and are not deleted!
  • The photos are retained in the Albums so that the entries may be judged or rated again, if desired.

If the Host would prefer to empty a Standard Contest Album after it has been Reset, you may empty Standard Contest Albums by:

  • DELETING the photos, or
  • TRANSFERRING the photos.

How to empty a Standard Contest Album by Deleting the photos:

  • It is possible to delete all of the photos that are currently in the Contest Album.
  • WARNING: Be aware that DELETING IS PERMANENT, AND CANNOT BE REVERSED!
  • When photos are deleted, all of the award points earned by the deleted photos will be deleted as well!

Steps for Deleting photos:

  1. First Reset the Standard Contest via the Contest Management List.
  2. After being Reset, the Contest Album will be state: Closed.

NOTE: It is suggested that drastic changes to the entries in Contest Albums (such as deleting entries) be done during state: Closed, while no new entries are being added and no judging is happening.

  3. Choose a Delete method:
    1. The Host can use Individual Delete (to Delete the photos one by one.)
    2. Or the Host can use Bulk Delete per Album (to more quickly delete all of the photos in the Album at once.)
  4. To use the Bulk Delete per Album tool:

On the Album's Home page, select Delete Photos (via the Host Tools button or menu link)

  5. Click on Select All
  6. Click on Delete Selected Photos
  7. Indicate why you are deleting the photos.... Just a Routine Delete.
  8. Enter your Password
  9. Then click on Say Goodbye.

After deleting photos:

How to empty a Contest Album by Transferring the photos:

  • It is possible to transfer all of the photos out of the Contest Album into another Album.
  • The transferred photos will not be deleted.
  • The transferred photos will retain their award points.
  • The transferred photos could be transferred (by the Host) back into the original Contest Album, at a later time, if desired.

Steps for Transfering photos:

  1. First Reset the Standard Contest via the Contest Management List.
  2. After being Reset, the Contest Album will be state: Closed.
  3. Prepare for transferring the photos by creating a destination Album in the Gallery.

NOTE: The destination Album will need to be a Shared or a Contest type Album (if you want the Members to have access to their photos.)

  4. Use the Host Transfer photos tool.

On the Album's Home page, select Transfer Photos (via the Host Tools button or menu link)

  5. Click on Select All
  6. Click on Step #2
  7. Select the destination Gallery, Group, and the destination Album you created.
  8. Then click on Move Photos.

After transfering photos:

  • The Contest Album will then be empty.
  • The Contest may then be re-opened to permit new entries to be added, by changing the Contest Album to state: Open via the Contest Management List.
