How do I use my Contest Management List?

This answer is useful to Hosts who are interested in holding Contests in their Gallery.

Your Gallery's Contest Management List is very versatile, and provides many methods for managing the Contests in you Gallery.

The Contest Management List lets the Host:

Change states of Contest Albums, which means whether the Contest Albums are:

Closed, Open, Judging, Completed or Recorded.

NOTE:  You will use the states to start and stop the judging or rating of selected Contests.

Assign the Judgement Method, which can be either Member Ratings system or a Single Judge for selected Contests.

Generate Written Results for Contest Albums that are in the Recorded state.

Filter the list by selecting Groups of Albums and states of Albums in order to display a manageable amount of information in the list.

Keep track of which Contests are being run in Qualified Contest Mode.

HOW TO CHANGE THE STATE OF A CONTEST

Contest Album states are the specific conditions of SnapBraggin Contest Albums that allow Contest Albums to be open or closed to activity, to start and stop judging, to record results of judging, and to reset Contests once judging is finished.

1.  Access the Contest Management List

2.  Place checkmarks next to selected Contests.

3.  Click on Edit Selected

4.  Click on Change State

5.  Click on the desired new state.

NOTE:  There are restrictions on which Contest types, and which states can be changed to certain states.

Not all changes are possible!

Please carefully read the informative popups that are displayed when you attempt to change states of selected Contests.

Some changes require that a Password be entered.

If you receive an error message that your selected Contests cannot be changed,

you have probably selected one or more Contests that do not meet the change requirements.

Try selecting different Contest Albums.

NOTE:  Please be especially aware when selecting Champion and Grand Champion Contests.

Champion and Grand Champion Contests can never be changed to Open.

And, they cannot be manually changed from Closed to Judging (because that change will happen automatically when their feeder Contest are Completed.)

To learn more about Contest states,

Please read:  What are Contest states (open, closed, judging, completed, recorded, reset)?  And how do I use them?

HOW TO KEEP TRACK OF WHICH CONTESTS ARE BEING RUN IN QUALIFIED CONTEST MODE.

The ability to keep track of which Contest are in Qualified Contest Mode is a non-interactive, merely informational aspect of the Contest Management List.

When a Contest Album is set (via Album Management - Album Contest Settings) as

Run in Qualified Contest Mode YES, SnapBraggin will indicate your choice by placing a

checkmark in the "Qualified" column of the Contest Management List.

If you see a GREEN CHECKMARK in the Qualified column, that means that the

Contest be being run in Qualified Contest Mode.   In Qualified Contest Mode, only entries that have earned host-specified placements, are eligible to be judge or rated.

NO CHECKMARK in the Qualified column, means that the Contest is being run

in Regular Contest Mode.  In Regular Contest Mode, all valid entries may be judged or rated.

NOTE:  You cannot click on the checkmarks in the list. The checkmarks are merely informational.

To change a Contest from Qualified Contest Mode to/from Regular (default) Contest Mode,

you must do so, individually, per Album in Album Management.

You can jump from the Contest Management List to Album Management for a specific Contest.   To jump, click on the associated wrench icon in the far, left column of the list.

Or you can access Album Management via the Host Tools button or menu link on the

Album's Home page.
