WHAT ARE ABANDONED PHOTOS?

 

FROM DEPARTING MEMBERS:  If your Gallery has Members who have submitted photos, and some of those Members eventually decide to End their Memberships, that is when Abandoned photos can occur.

 

Photos will become Abandoned Photos if they are left behind by departing (Former) Members of your Gallery, BUT ONLY IF YOU PERMIT IT and the departing Members choose to do it! 

 

NOTE:  You can prevent Members from leaving Abandoned photos, if you desire!

Simply opt out of allowing departing Members to leave their photos behind. 

To opt out: set the Allow Abandoned Photos option to NO, as described below. 

 

 

FROM ACCIDENTAL TRANSFERS BY THE HOST:

Hosts can accidentally transfer Member photos into NON-Member Galleries.  If that happens, those photos become “Abandoned” photos, caused by the Host.

 

 

 

AM I REQUIRED TO ALLOW ABANDONED PHOTOS IN MY GALLERY?

 

Absolutely not!  

 

You can opt out of allowing Abandoned Photos to be left in your Gallery by departing Members. 

 

To opt out: simply access your Manage This Gallery - Gallery Membership Settings page and set the Allow Abandoned Photos option to NO, as described below. 

 

 

 

HOW DO I CHANGE THE "ALLOW ABANDONED PHOTOS?" OPTION?

 

The options for Allow Abandoned Photos? are: 

 

Yes or No?

 

Select YES if it is okay for a Member to leave their photos behind for others to enjoy when they End their Membership.  (Their photos will remain in your Gallery as Abandoned photos.)

 

Select NO if you do not want any photos left behind by Members who end their memberships.  (Their photos will be deleted.)

 

 

New Gallery Setup:

During initial Setup of a new Gallery, STEP #4 allows you

to determine Membership Settings, including the "Allow Abandoned Photos?" option.

 

Established Gallery: 

 

To Change the "Allow Abandoned Photos?" option in an established Gallery:

 

1.  While visiting your Gallery's Home page, access Manage This Gallery (via the Host Tools button or menu link.) 

 

2. Click on the Gallery Membership Settings button.

 

3. Make your desired change to the Allow Abandoned Photos? option.  YES or NO?

 

 

Select YES to allow departing Members to leave Abandoned photos.

 

Select NO to prevent departing Members from leaving Abandoned photos (their photos will instead be deleted.)

 

4. Then Click Save.

 

 

NOTE:  Even if you permit Abandoned photos, any Members who are departing must decide whether they want to leave their photos or not (they don't have to.)

 

NOTE:  Even if you permit Abandoned photos, you can find and delete Abandoned photos if you later change your mind.
