I am a Gallery Host. How do I change the Mandatory Number of Winning Finalists (when the Contest Album is Judged)?

This Album management option is only available for Contest Albums.

WARNING:  This option can only be changed while a Contest Album is either

Closed or Open state.

Use this option to set the Mandatory Number of Winning Finalists in your Contest Album.

This option applies to either judgement method:  By Single Judge or By Member Ratings.

When Single Judges are judging, the judges will elect the Winning Finalists.

When Member Ratings is active, SnapBraggin will elect the Winning Finalists based on the Ratings that the entries receive.

This option will require that as many valid Entries as possible, up to the specified number, must be Flagged as Finalists when judging is completed.

Because only valid entries may be Flagged as Finalists, the actual number of possible Winning Finalist Photos will be influenced by the number of valid Entries in the Contest Album at the time

that the Contest is being judged or rated.

It is possible for a Contest (that is being judged or rated) to contain more than enough valid Entries, the exact number of valid finalists, or less than the number required.

It is also possible for a Contest to contain no valid Entries!

WHAT ENTRIES ARE NOT VALID ENTRIES?

The following entries might be stored in the Contest Album, but will not be judged or rated.  (They will either be hidden from judges or their ratings will be inactive):

Pending Approval entries:   PA, Pending Approval entries will be hidden and will not be judged or rated until Approved.  Hosts! Please decide about PA entries in your Contests before starting judging!

Rejected entries:  Entries that the Host has Rejected will be hidden and will not be judged or rated.

Disqualified entries:  Entries that are DQd (disqualified) by the current Single Judge will become invalid Entries (they cannot be Finalists.)  Entries that were previously DQd by a Single Judge (during a previous time that the Contest was judged) will be hidden during judging or rating.

DQ-PA entries:   DQ-PA entries are previously disqualified entries that have been modified/corrected by their owners and are awaiting the Host's decision whether to approve the corrections.  DQ-PA entries will be hidden and will not be judged or rated.

Hosts! Please decide about DQ-PA entries in your Contests before starting judging!

Entries owned by the Judge:  If the option for Hide Judges' Photos When Judging is set as YES, then entries owned by the assigned Single Judge will be hidden while that judge is judging.   (This only applies to the use of an assigned Single Judge as the judgement method.)

Entries owned by Members who do not have your permission to compete:   Entries that are owned by Gallery Members who are set as Can Not Submit in your Member Management List (which includes Can Not Compete) will not be judged or rated.  Their entries will be hidden from Single Judges (and Member Ratings will be inactive for their entries.)    Note that Blocked Members are also automatically Can Not Submit/ Can Not Compete.

Entries that are Not Qualified:   If a Contest is set to be judged or rated in Qualified Contest Mode

(see the Q & A for that topic) then all entries in the Contest that do not meet the level of requirement to be considered "Qualified" will not be judged or rated.  Non-qualified entries will be temporarily hidden while the Contest is being judged or rated.

EXAMPLE FOR THE MANDATORY NUMBER OF WINNING FINALISTS

(based on the number of valid Entries):

Let's say that the Host wants 6 Winning Finalists to receive awards.

(In this example, the Host will enter the number 6 into the Mandatory Number of Winning Finalists box.)

If the Contest contains more than 6 valid entries, only 6 of those valid entries may be Flagged as Finalists when the judge completes judging.  (The 6 Finalists will win awards.)

If the Contest contains exactly 6 valid entries, those 6 valid entries must be Flagged as Finalists when the judge completes judging.  (The 6 Finalists will win awards.)

If the Contest contains less than 6 valid entries, all of the valid entries that are available must be Flagged as Finalists when the judge completes judging.  (The number that the judge is able to Flag as Finalists will win awards, for example 4 Finalists.)

If the Contest contains ZERO valid entries, then no entries will be Flagged as Finalists when the judge completes judging.  (Therefore, no entries will win awards.)

NOTE: The judge or Host must complete the judging of a Contest even if the contest contains zero valid entries!

HOW TO CHANGE THE MANDATORY NUMBER OF WINNING FINALISTS:

New Contest Album Setup:

During initial Setup of a new Contest Album, STEP #4 allows you to indicate the Number of Winning Finalists when the Contest is Judged.

Established Contest Album:

To change the Mandatory Number of Winning Finalists in an established Contest Album

(To make this change, the Contest Album must be in either the Open or the Closed State):

1. When on the Album's Home page, select Manage This Album (via the Host Tools button or menu link)

2.  Click on the Album Contest Settings button

3.  Make your desired changes to the Mandatory Number of Winning Finalists option,

4.   Enter the number into the box.

Specify the number of finalists that will place at the completion of the contest.

( 0 = don't care, 10 = maximum.   Placement points will be awarded no higher than

10th place.)

NOTE:  If you do not care how many Winning Finalists, then enter zero (0) into the box.

When zero is entered, the judge will be able to Flag ANY NUMBER of Winning Finalists (from zero to the max possible.)   However, only the top 10 Winning Finalists (1st through 10th) will receive awards and points.

5.  Then Click Save.
