I am a Gallery Host. How do I change the Photo Size Restriction for an Album?

This Album management option is available only for Shared Albums and Standard Contest Albums.

This option allows you to restrict the size of photo files that may be uploaded into the Album.

Who will be restricted?

Both the Members and the Host will be restricted.

When a Photo Size restriction is indicated (is other than None), both the Host's and

the Members' uploads must comply.

Any uploads of photo files into the specific Shared or Standard Contest Album, that do not meet the requirements, will be prevented.

NOTE:  If you restrict the photo size, the restriction information will be displayed on the Album's Home page and on the selected uploader page.

Why might you care what size files are uploaded?

You may want to restrict the file size to avoid long upload times:  To avoid long upload times, SnapBraggin recommends that photo file sizes be restricted, or that the files be down-sized before uploading.

You may want to restrict the file size to prevent your storage capacity from being used up too quicklyYour selected Hosting Plan will have a maximum storage capacity.   Large size files will obviously eat up your storage capacity much faster than smaller sized files!

You may want to restrict the file size for Contests:  If you hold Contests, and if you want all of the photos that are entered into a Contest Album to be a specific size or no larger than a certain size (pixels wide by pixels tall), then you can set the required dimensions with this option.

You may want to restrict the file size so that all photos in an Album are identical in size:

If you would like all of the photos in a Shared or a Contest Album to be uniform in size so that the photos in the Album display at the exact same size, you may use the Must Be Exact option.

You may want SnapBraggin to down-size files during upload:  If you would like all files uploaded into an Album to be automatically down-sized by SnapBraggin to be no larger than your required dimensions, then you may take advantage of the File will be down-sized to Fit option.

This option can help to prevent your storage capacity from being used up too quickly,

because large files will be down-sized and stored as smaller versions.

You may want to have no file size restriction:  Perhaps you just do not care.  If you are willing to let any size photo files be uploaded, then you will select the None option.  You will want to use the None option if you prefer not to restrict the size of files that are uploaded into the Album.

NOTE: To avoid long upload times, SnapBraggin recommends that photo file size be restricted or that files be down-sized before uploading.

The options for Photo Size Restriction for Shared and Contest Albums are:

None

Must not Exceed

Must be Exact

File will be down-sized to Fit

None:   When None is selected, the file size will not be restricted.

Must Not Exceed:  When Must Not Exceed is selected, all files that are uploaded must be resized before uploading to be no larger than the dimensions indicated.

If an uploaded file is larger than the dimensions, the upload will be prevented.

Must be Exact:  When Must be Exact is selected, all files that are uploaded must be resized before uploading to be exactly the dimensions indicated, no larger and no smaller.

If an uploaded file is in any way different in size than the dimensions, the upload will be prevented.

File will be down-sized to Fit:   When File will be down-sized to Fit is selected, all photo files uploaded into the Album will be automatically and permanently down-sized by SnapBraggin to be no larger than the dimensions indicated.

If an uploaded file fits within the dimensions, the original file will be saved.

If an uploaded file is larger than the dimensions, SnapBraggin will down-size the file to fit and will save only the smaller version.
