How are Contests re-judged?

This answer applies only to Contest Albums.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO RE-JUDGE A CONTEST?

When Contests are in the Completed state, their results are not yet official.

Completed Contests may be re-judged.

Re-judging happens (or is possible) whenever a Completed Contest is changed from the Completed state

back to the Judging state.

So, re-judging is actually the act of changing a Contest from Completed state back to Judging state, so that

the Contest can be judged or rated again.

And why would you want to do that, you wonder?

Well, the most likely reason would be so that different winning Finalists can be chosen...

But, another possible reason might be that you have discovered an entry that should be Disqualified or Rejected.

HOW IS A CONTEST RE-JUDGED?

IS THE CONTEST BEING JUDGED?

When a Contest is being judged (by an assigned Single Judge),

the Judge (or Host) may re-judge the Contest when it is in the Completed state.

1. The judge or Host will access the Contest via the For Judges path.

2.  Click to enter the Completed Contest.

3.  Click on the Re-judge This Contest button.

(This will automatically change the Contest from state: Completed back to state: Judging.)

4.  The current judged activity (finalists, placement order and DQs) will be retained when a

Contest is re-judged.

However, new finalists may be selected, finalist order can be changed, and/or entries can be DQ (disqualified)

or UN-disqualified, as desired.

5. When done, the judge or Host will need to Complete the judging again.

IS THE CONTEST BEING RATED?

If a Contest is being rated, the Host may re-judge the Contest by manually changing the Contest

from Completed state back to Judging state in the Contest Management List.

If the Host has a reason to re-judge a Contest that is being rated, the Host can do so by changing the state

of the Contest from Completed back to Judging.

CONTINUE THE RATINGS:  Perhaps the Host would like the Ratings to continue.

Changing a Contest back to Judging state will allow additional time for Members to Rate the entries in the Contest.

REJECT AN ENTRY: Perhaps the Host discovered an entry that should be Rejected.

Changing a Contest back to Judging state will allow the Host access to Reject the entry.

DECIDE ABOUT A PA, PENDING APPROVAL ENTRY: Perhaps the Host discovered

a PA, Pending Approval entry that should have been Approved (and thus able to be Rated.)

Changing a Contest back to Judging state will allow the Host access to Approve the entry.

When done, in order to stop the Ratings, the Host will need to Complete the judging again.

The Host must manually change the Contest from Judging state to Completed state

in the Contest Management List.

NOTE:  Remember that, whenever a Contest is re-judged, it must once again be Completed !

NOTE:   AND, if the Contest is within a tournament bracket, any associated higher-level Contests must

also be Completed again!
