How do I stop the Judging or the Ratings?

This answer applies only to Contest Albums.

Contest Album states are used to stop judging or ratings.

You can use Completed state or Recorded state to stop judging or ratings.

How to Stop a Contest that is being judged by Single Judge:

  1. First the judging must be COMPLETED:
    • You assigned Single Judges will Complete the judging via the For Judges menu link.
    • Or, the Host may manually change the Contest from Judging state to Completed state
    • in the Contest Management List.
    • However, in Completed state, the results are not official. The Contest can still be re-judged
    • (can be set back to Judging state), if necessary.
  2. Then RECORD the Contest results:
    • In order to make the results official and final, and to issue awards and placements, the Host will need to Record the results.
    • To Record the results, change the Contest from Completed state to Recorded state in the Contest Management List.

How to Stop a Contest that is being rated using Member Ratings:

  1. First the Ratings must be COMPLETED:
    • IF RATINGS ARE HAPPENING DURING OPEN STATE (because Allow Ratings During Open is Yes),
    • To halt the Ratings immediately, the Host will need to change the Contest directly from Open state
    • to Completed state in the Contest Management List.
    • IF RATINGS ARE HAPPENING DURING JUDGING STATE:
    • To stop the Ratings, the Host will need to change the Contest from Judging state to Completed state in the Contest Management List.
    • In either case, the results will not be official.
    • In Completed state, the results are not official because the Contest can still be re-judged (can be set back to Judging state), if necessary.
  2. Then RECORD the Contest results:
    • In order to make the results official and final, and to issue awards and placements, the Host will need to Record the results.
    • To Record the results, change the Contest from Completed state to Recorded state in the Contest Management List.
    • NOTE: In order to save Contest results, awards and points data, ALWAYS RECORD CONTESTS before RESETTING THEM!

How to stop a Contest by using RESET:

  • You can use RESET to stop judging or ratings.
  • HOWEVER, Reset will delete all of the judging or ratings activity!
  • So, if you want to preserve the results and awards points, YOU MUST RECORD BEFORE YOU RESET.
  • To Reset the Contest, use Reset to change the Contest state in the Contest Management List.
  • Reset will transition the Contest to the Closed state.
