How do I Reset Contests to start them over?

It is possible to RESET a Contest that is in any state: Closed, Open, Judging, Completed or Recorded.

However, you should always have a good reason for Resetting your Contest!

RESETTING A CONTEST WILL CLEAR AWAY ALL JUDGING OR RATINGS ACTIVITY.

WHEN A CONTEST IS RESET it is transitioned to the CLOSED state.

When a Contest Album is Reset, all placements, awards, and Finalist flags will be removed.

When a Contest Album is Reset, ratings (if there are any) will be set back to zero.

Usually, you will want the judging process to be finished, and the results to be recorded BEFORE you Reset your Contest!

WARNING:  In order to save Contest results, awards and points data, ALWAYS RECORD CONTESTS BEFORE RESETTING THEM!

To RESET a Contest, you will do so in the Contest Management List:

1. On your Gallery's Home page, select Contest Management List (via the Host Tools button or menu link.)

2.  Place checkmarks next to selected Contests.

WARNING:  Select Contests carefully!   Be sure that you select only those Contests that you definitely wish to Reset.

WARNING:  If you want to save Contest results, RECORD your Contests BEFORE YOU RESET!

3.  Click on Edit Selected.

4.  Click on Change state.

5.  Click on Reset Contest Data

6.  Carefully read the popup about what happens when you Reset Contests.

7.  If you are positive that you wish to Reset the selected Contests,

Type your Password (case-sensitive) into the box

8.  Then click on Continue.

This will Reset all of the selected Contests.

All of the selected Contests will transition to the Closed state.

WHAT HAPPENS TO AWARDS AND POINTS WHEN CONTESTS ARE RESET?

IF you RESET a Contest that is in Open, Judging or Completed state: all current judging or ratings activity

will be deleted. All Ratings will be reset to zero.   All current award and points data will be deleted.

(It will be as if the current Judging or Ratings activity never happened !  It will all be forgotten!)

If you want to save that information you need to Record first, before you Reset!

IF you RESET a Contest that is in the Recorded stateContest results, awards and points data

will be retained and archived!  The awards and points will be officially issued to, and earned by, and saved

for the winning finalists in the Contest.  (If you wish to save that information RECORD BEFORE RESET!)

WHAT HAPPENS TO DISQUALIFIED ENTRIES WHEN CONTESTS ARE RESET?

IF you RESET a Contest that is in Judging or Completed stateall newly-issued DQ, Disqualifications

(just given by the judge) will be deleted (along with all of the other judging activity.)

If you want to save that information, you need to Record first, before you Reset!

IF you RESET a Contest that is in the Recorded state: all newly-issued DQ, Disqualifications

(just given by the judge) will be retained and archived with the results. (If you wish to save that information

RECORD BEFORE RESET!)

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE PHOTOS IN CONTESTS WHEN THE CONTESTS ARE RESET?

IF you RESET a Champion or Grand Champion Contest:  any temporary duplicate photos in the Contest Album

will cease to exist.  The Champion or Grand Champion Contest Album will once again be empty.

The way that Champion and Grand Champion Contests work on SnapBraggin is that,

the only time that they contain photos (which are really just duplicate photos of the winners from feeder Contests)

are while the Champion or Grand Champion Contests are being judged or rated.

IF you RESET a Standard Contest Album: all of the entries in the Album will continue to stay in the Album

(so that the entries can be judged or rated again, if desired.)

Resetting a Standard Contest does not delete entries.

If, following Reset, you wish to empty your Standard Contest Album, you will need to do so manually.
